Ryan Valera and Peachie Dioquino-Valera, two former students who met each other and fell in love while participating in my workshops years ago, visited this afternoon with their six-year-old daughter, Mandala. I took them to a late lunch at M.'s cafe, and then we went to the house, where I gave them lots of stuff since I am trying to clear two rooms to relocate our kitchen in. They reminded me of something I'd forgotten, that today is the anniversary of the Spirit Questors, a group that has been in existence since I founded it in 1996.
I gave them, among other things, two paintings for their house: Left, Tai Toh Kung, God of Medicine, acrylic, which was exhibited at the Cultural Center of the Philippines for my retrospective, and Right, Morning After Overtime, also acrylic, which was exhibited at Sining Kamalig and a study for my Saint John The Baptist triptych.
